New jobs for IT experts due to digitalisation
We can no longer imagine our everyday lives without digital technologies. Using digital technology on a daily basis has become a completely normal part of life around the world. It has not only changed our society, but also the economy and the world of work.
There are some professions that no longer exist on the market. At the same time, however, new professions and activities based on digital technology are emerging every day. For example, until a few years ago, nobody would have thought that there would be jobs in artificial intelligence.
But if we simply think of our cars, the change has been enormous. Where once only a car mechanic was needed, today there is so much software in the car that IT experts are also needed to manufacture or repair a car.
We have now reached a point where IT experts are needed in practically every industry. This means that there is a more or less inexhaustible wealth of new jobs for IT graduates.
The growing demand for IT specialists
In Germany, the shortage of IT specialists has reached a new high with around 82,000 vacancies. The digital transformation in practically all sectors means that the demand for IT experts will continue to rise. This puts IT specialists in a position where they can practically choose their job. Companies are no longer just looking for programmers. Application administrators and project managers are also increasingly in demand. Quality managers and IT security experts are also highly sought-after professions.
Traditional industries and IT are merging more and more, creating completely new job profiles. Who would have thought a few years ago that many companies today would be looking for data scientists, VR developers, artificial intelligence engineers or software developers for autonomous driving?
Gone are the days when an IT specialist was a nerd in a dark room who only sat in front of a PC and subsisted on coke and crisps. Nowadays, specialist knowledge is required, as well as creativity, teamwork and communication skills. In addition, an IT specialist must be prepared to constantly adapt to new technologies and familiarise themselves with new areas and applications in a short space of time. Technical progress will not stand still. In fact, it is expected to increase much more rapidly in the future and new jobs will be created that never existed before.
A degree in computer science can open up numerous interesting job opportunities. Whether as a software developer, data scientist, IT security expert, IT consultant or machine learning engineer - the career prospects are diverse. The rapid development in the digital sector also means that completely new job profiles can emerge within just a few years. For students, this means above all that they are constantly learning and developing. IT experts can look forward to a promising future, as their skills will be increasingly in demand in almost all sectors.
