Certain synthetic fuels can be used in suitable existing engines; their impact on the climate depends, in particular, on how they are produced. LNG is already used as a marine fuel, but in its fossil form it is not a zero-emission solution. Hydrogen requires suitable propulsion, storage and safety systems.
